the Way through difficulties,
the trials of Truth and
the suffering of Life

take strength, be inspired
with our heart and will,
grace be with you

meditate on the Way
the cross we all bear
is enlightened by
our attitudes and virtues

humble we are in form
darkness blinds us
wounded selves, broken worlds
our conscience confesses

forgiving weakness
encouraging strength
may we learn to love, to serve

my life is incomplete
until i crown it with my death
your lessons are complete
when you crown it with your life
we walk together always

condemned we are
dying in silence,
in ignorance, in fear
as orphaned by wars,
as hungered by gluttony,
as powerless by force
grant me courage to act true

more fear than malice
more difficult than unjust
the appointments to guide
the commandments to love
as mirrors of ego
i who do not
and you who do

we are the others within
judging, blaming, hurting
living and dying

i am as guilty as you are
you are as innocent as i am
committing, redeeming
forgiving

turning away, turning over

moving me to see
helping you to care
we claim to love
we have yet to learn
in lumine

i choose your will
you decree my power
submitting, yielding
surrendering
bending between lives
obscuring governance
with fatal obedience

viewing us differently
blessing my rich illusions
befriending your eclipsed light
we are willing to change
disturbing, confusing
quieting

struggles we have
painfully alone, they watch
as you harden my heart
as i taint your soul
as sorrow turns evil
we share anguish

accidentally, deliberately
attaching, burning
injuring

the guilty reconciles
the healers bruise
the sheep strays
the rebels crush
the mind-body sins
grant us grace to go on

misunderstanding pain
denying sickness
my faults, your failings
our actions building
heavily on our backs
heal us, salve me

take heart
gain strength
weights of life
products of being
discomforts, disappointments
dissensions, disrespect
discontinue

no one looks for it
no culture, no religion
i seek escape
you feign existence
we choose burden
for peace through faith

to transform our spirit
to realize goodness
all are in harmony
trusting, believing
living, loving
experience helps us
to be better selves

you trip, i struggle
we move on
not yet exhausted
signs of weakness
hiding beneath
faltering strength

you walk, i fall
we weaken
carrying loads
time lading them

it is so easy
when they are well
when we are happy
it is so hard
when they are lost
when we are blind

emptying, forming
indulging, slaving
humbling, accepting
above, below
in between
radiating
sickness, oppression

they see, we ignore
i trespass, you fail
he tires,she loves not
crossing, engrossing
in fallen fates
never realising

these worlds i make
as you are delicate
humanity, reality
too weak in form
too frail in bonds
the perfect discontent

you hope, i yield
she fatigues, he struggles
they refuse not
we confess not
contending, defecting
praying

thou art that
unchanging comforts
repenting regrets
falling, rising
circling
in timed spaces
to see them as we are

your hidden beauty
in a body torn
in a soul broken
in agony unspoken
in motherly compassion

comforted, comforting
the way convenes
arrows wound tenderly
destinies oppose
secrets unite
sharing is real
piercing in fidelity

he is remarkable
she is unnoticeable
standing by my side
meeting us in you
watching them burn
grieving the beloved
in distress, in sorrow

they think as we feel
you ache as i stumble
reconciling worlds
redeeming hearts
uniting thoughts

they say, you follow
surely, kindly
making excuses
remaining aloof
lacking courage
i hesitate

fearing, expiring
dying
to limits, to steps
in gratitude, in virtue
big thoughts
small matters
eternally appreciating

prideful, selfish
rejecting
understanding
we are
the angels you seek
they are
the sinners i make

each space he lifts
each time she gives
every task it does
you are exalted
i am enlightened
we are our own
salvation
